This weekend just gone, my mum came to stay in Leeds for a couple of day's for one of our regular 'Cocktails + Shopping' trips. We decided to go for some brunch to brace ourselves for the day ahead of Shopping. As you'll probably have realised after my recent post about Brunch in Streatham Hill, I'm just a little (okay, a bit of a lot) obsessed with brunch. We decided to try out the Livin' Italy Brunch menu as it's a restaurant we've been to many times for dinner and we absolutely love it there. It's also conveniently placed about a 10 second walk from my flat.
Livin' Italy is an independent Italian restaurant in Leeds situated underneath Leeds Train Station in one of the many Railway Arches. It's a perfectly quirky little place with buckets of character. The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious and every weekday evening they have a free buffet between 5pm and 7pm, if it wasn't socially unacceptable to eat there every single day you'd find me at the buffet every evening.
We were seated upstairs and we ordered our drinks. I opted for the San Pellegrino Pompelmo because it's my all time favourite drink and the only place I've never managed to find it sold in a restaurant. My mum chose those a Mocho made with Dark chocolate which I was a little envious of once it arrived as it looked deliciously warming and comforting.
For food I opted for the Livin' Italy Italo-English Special which I had to try as it all sounded incredible it came with a Tuscan Sausage, Crispy Pancetta, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Spicy Baked Beans, Wild Garlic Mushrooms and a Fried Egg. Yummy. It was exactly as I expected, it was so tasty and just what I needed for the day ahead. Mum chose the 2 Fried Eggs with Crispy Pancetta which came with Pan Fried bread, and this wonderful pot of what I'd describe as Breakfast Chutney; it was Olives, Onions, Celery, Aubergine all slow roasted and it tasted like the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. If your ever looking for a spot of brunch in Leeds, Livin' Italy is the perfect place with an Italian twist on your British classics.
